Ende der Pneusaga ?

Nach dem dritten Platten wollten wir es wissen und sind zu einem Cooper-Pneu Spezialisten in Mount Isa gefahren. Der hat nur kurz in die zerfetzte Karkasse geschaut, einen Mitarbeiter gerufen, den Kopf geschüttelt und gesagt: „Anfänger“. Offenbar bringt Cooper ein Qualitätssiegel in Form eines metallenen Klebers in jedem Reifen an. Weil unsere Felgen auseinandernehmbar sind brauchen wir einen Schlauch obwohl es schlauchlose Pneus sind. Das Metallgütesiegel gräbt sich langsam in den Schlauch ein und lässt ihn platzen, wenn man es vor Montage nicht heraus schleift, was üblich ist, sagt der Cooper Spezialist. Keiner der verschiedenen Garagen die unsere Pneus montiert haben, wusste das offenbar und hat die schädlichen Plättchen im Pneu gelassen.  Nach einigen „Diskussionen“ hat sich die Position der ersten Garage von: „Gute Frau, das habe ich noch nie gehört. Haben sie schon jemals ihren Pneudruck kontrolliert?“ Ja, habe ich. Nun zu: „OK wir sind bereit zwei Pneus zu ersetzen“  gewandelt. Mal schauen, wie es schlussendlich ausgeht, ich arbeite daran.

End of the tyre saga?
After the third flat we wanted to know what was going on. We went to a Cooper-Tyre specialist in Mount Isa. He briefly looked at the sorry carcass, called an employee, shoed him and said: “Ignorant!!” Apparently Cooper puts a metallic quality seal inside the tyres. Basically the tyres are tubeless, but because our Troopy has split rims they need a tube. The seal slowly grinds itself into the rubber tube and lets it burst if the seal is not taken out before the tyres are mounted., which is standard procedure, says the cooper specialist. None of the various garages which mounted our tyres new about that and left the damaging quality seals in the tyres. After some “discussions” the position of the garage which initially mounted our tyres in Melbourne changed from: “Well, lady I have never heard about such a thing. Did you check the tyre pressure?” Sure I did. To: „Ok we are ready to replace two tyres“. Let’s see how this finally ends, I am working on it.
